Zoektocht naar naoberschap in onze huidige maatschappij
Naobers gaat over buren en de traditie om elkaar als buren te helpen.
Naoberschap heette dat vroeger. Buren hielpen elkaar bij het verwezenlijken van gemeenschappelijke doelen en stonden elkaar bij in lief en leed; bij huwelijk, geboorte en dood. Maar ook ondersteunde je elkaar tijdens de oogst en zaaitijden.
De PeerGrouP ging op zoek naar naoberschap in eigen provincie. Op vijf bijzondere locatie in Drenthe wilde de PeerGroup theatervoorstellingen spelen die aanleiding gaven tot gesprekken over wat tegenwoordig naoberschap is of kan zijn. Vaak wordt er gedacht dat het ‘iets van vroeger' is, toen de openbare voorzieningen nog slecht waren en je burenhulp nodig had. Maar is het naoberschap eigenlijk wel echt verdwenen? Niet alleen voor inwoners van de dorpen zelf, maar ook voor theaterliefhebbers buiten deze dorpen leverden de voorstellingen interessante, boeiende en vermakelijke inzichten op.

A quest for neighbourliness in our present society.
Naobers is about neighbours and the tradition of neighbourliness, ‘naoberschap’ as it was called in the province of Drenthe in the old days. Neighbours helped one another to achieve communal goals, supported each other through thick and thin, shared emotions at weddings, births and deaths, and worked side by side at harvest time and in the sowing season.
The PeerGrouP went on a quest for neighbourliness in the province and performed at five specially chosen sites, with the intention of initiating discussions on the facts and possibilities of present-day neighbourliness. It is often put away as ‘something of the past’, when facilities were few and limited and neighbourly help was a bare necessity. But is neighbourliness really completely extinct? The PeerGrouP’s performances have yielded interesting, fascinating and amusing insights, for the villagers themselves as well as for the theater loving public from outside.
