De Ronde Tafel
De Ronde Tafel
De Ronde Tafel is picknicken voor gevorderden: een 4 uur durende voorstelling annex maaltijd in het landschap. Negenenveertig gasten nemen plaats aan een ronde tafel van tien meter doorsnede. In het midden de kok en de acteurs. Zij nemen de gasten mee op een gastronomische reis met producten van om de hoek en verhalen uit heel de wereld. De Ronde Tafel stelt vragen over de herkomst van ons voedsel en de toekomst van ons landschap. De Ronde Tafel is vooral ruiken, kijken, proeven en voelen. Een ervaring die alle zintuigen prikkelt.
De Ronde Tafel is voor het eerst gedekt in het jaar 2008 in een weiland bij Houtigehage. Daarna streek de tafel neer bij o.a. een biologische varkensboer in Noord-Holland, een oude melkfabriek in Drenthe, achter de duinen op Terschelling en bij een verlaten dijkhuis met visstek in de Biesbosch.
De Ronde Tafel heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een succesvolle voorstelling. De Ronde Tafel staat meestal buiten, in het landschap, maar kan ook in stedelijk gebied staan. De Ronde Tafel wordt opgebouwd met of zonder tent.

In 2011 The Round Table will be set once again at a number of different places, country-wide. You can be our guest and enjoy a gastronomic feat wrapped in theatrical narrative. Check our site for dates and locations because there’s room for no more than 49 people at the table.
Eating together is not just anything. When we’re sitting down at the table we come closest to being our true selves, to seeing each other as we really are. Seated around the table we can talk about these matters, about how it is that things are the way they are, and where to go from here. We, the food, the landscape. This year The Round Table will try and gain more insight in how food and landscape can restore and fortify one another. Enjoy!
Why is it that we have food and others don’t sometimes?
The Round Table is a gastronomical journey with local produce and universal stories. The public can taste, listen, take part in the conversation or churn the butter.
Is the croissant indeed originally from France? Is an apple from New-Zeeland actually cheaper?
Previous locations of The Round Table were an organic pig farm, a former dairy factory and an abandoned dike-house that proved to be a fishing hot-spot.
