Eugène van Erven (1955 doet sinds 1980 onderzoek naar theater en sociale ontwikkeling.
Hij is hoofddocent theaterwetenschap aan de Universiteit Utrecht en auteur van Radical People’s Theatre (Indiana University Press, 1988), The Playful Revolution: Theatre and Liberation in Asia (Indiana UP, 1992) en het boek- en filmpakket Community Theatre: Global Perspectives (Routledge, 2001).
